Currently we are turning them around as the wire always sits on one side with every set. Has anyone here made their own cutter wheels? If so what material did you use? What other ways have people made them last longer? Possibly by redesigning the entry shoot to house a guide that can direct the wire in to either side of the wheels?

Any input would be appreciated. Thanks, Luke. Roberts Aluminum. Joined May 11, Luke, I have the same issues. Sodick does make a chopper that has adjustable cutters. I have made spacers to offset the cutters, to make the spent wire engage a different area I turn them around as well.

Our AG has hours on it and still using the same cutters. The choppers don't last long at all on our ALN's. We tried wiring out our own but just didn't work. They just crimped the wire. Needless to say, our wire choppers for the ALN's are sitting on a shelf.

I have changed the cutters a few times. For the top roller, mine is on a pivot, and engagement to the bottom cutter is controlled by a spring loaded cutter. The bottom roller is a PIA; mine has two double stacked set screws that act as levelers; when I questioned Sodick service as to how far they should protrude from the shaft, they couldn't answer I had to play around with it to get it to work. And Shane, what material did you try with to make your own?
